EXC 19. MAJELLA NATIONAL PARK (E)
Not far from Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise National Park lies also the Majella National Park . Here we will have the possibility to experience the nature and the history of this area.
The Majella, called “mother mountain” of the Abruzzo, was the favourite mountain for hermits and saints. The chosen excursion is one of the most attractive and picturesque, crossing the natural Reserve of the Orfento Valley and visiting the sanctuary of St. John.
After the itinerary we will visit the historical centre of Pescocostanzo, considered one of the most representative examples of Abruzzo architecture: The village with its buildings from the Renaissance period and its paved roads offers the visitor one of the most attractive atmospheres in the whole Region. Ancient and traditional crafts will also be observable.
- Location: Caramanico – Valle dell’Orfento (from Decontra to s. of St. John) - Pescocostanzo
